A lot of people don’t realize that Evia is actually a proper island. It is also the second largest island after Crete, and has a lot of activities to offer. Evia has been inhabited since pre historic times with loads of historic remains to prove it. It’s most important settlement early became today’s Chalkida port city, since it was the closest to the mainland and had natural resources of copper, making the city a trading center of great importance. The island’s name stands for “rich in cattle”.
It is excellent for cycling around on, since there are many small villages and interesting places worth visiting. Of course, there are nice beaches as well, and depending on where you stay, you can enjoy some real peace and quiet, or a hectic nightlife. Either way you can find yourself endulged in the magic of this uncharted island.

If you are a city cycling fan, this is the place you sould be. Visiting local beaches and go sightseeing on you bike, there is no better place than Chalkida and the surrounding historic villages to live your Greek dream. You will have the opportunity to cycle coast to coast along beautifull beaches, endless beach bars and taste local seafood and exquisite cuisine. You can visit Chalkida seafront for a quick cup of coffee and learn all about the unique tidal phenomenon of Evripos strait.
Gaidaros (25km – 4 hours)
Depart from the beach of Alykes, cycle all along the coast to the village of Loukisia and head back riding at the foot of mount Xtypas.
Fylla (30 km – 4 hours)
Starting at LKP (Lefkanti Kitepark) we head on to the historic village of Fylla, visit medieval towers, bridges and castles. We will enjoy some sweet singletrack and ancient scenery.
Coast to Coast (20 km – 3,5 hours)
Departing from Gaidaros we cycle all along Chalkis sublime seaside houses and coved beaches. You will have the opportunity to have a swim at the sea(So have your sea stuff with you). Arrive at the bridge of Chalkida, have a taste of local & fresh seafood and some coffee with the view of the seafront.
Politika (25 km – 4 hours)
Starting at the fishing village of Politika, you will have the great opportunity to enjoy the stunning view of the Evian gulf from above. At the end we will have a nice swim at the beach of Politika.
Winerouts (27km – 4 hours)
Cycle through the ancient wine routs of Mytika. We will have the option of tasting unique greek wine from local producers.
