We’ve been in Mani a couple of times. Each was in a different hotel and we saw different things. This time we got an invitation from “Petra & Fos” boutique hotel in Mani, Greece.
We knew the hotel location but not the inside of it and its services. We thought it would be an excellent opportunity to visit Mani again and explore the area, so we packed and drove there.
Petra & Fos in Mani, Greece
The hotel is situated at Iitilo, just 3.5 hours driving time form Athens, so it is excellent even for weekend getaways.
Petra & Fos is exactly situated by the sea, at the proper height to offer infinite pool views. Different beaches are near by, along with stone build villages and serene landscapes. The area of Mani, beams a mix of power and relaxation at the same time.
It’s menu is rather tasty and we had the opportunity to taste different plates that tingled our palate.
Rooms are very comfortable and spacious, and almost all have great views.
We also had the opportunity to enjoy its Spa services (sauna, jacuzzi & massage). After a day of outdoor activities they were much needed.
For those who want to explore the area there are plenty of things to see and do. Here is what we did this time. Two years ago we’ve visited the Caves of Diros and Vathia village, two of the most known (and beautiful) things to experience.
Strolling inside Areopolis, Mani
Areopolis is the capital of Mani and a mixture of modern and traditional character. The town center has largely kept its traditional character. Visitors will enjoy the town center where many small coffee shops and traditional taverns are spread.
The quietness of the town along with a Greek coffee and some local sweets or pastry, will be an ideal break.
Beautiful village of Limeni
Very close to Itilo, is the Limeni village. A small stone build village where you can eat perfectly cooked fish. One of the most pricey taverns of the area exists here, but that’s not the only one.
Limeni is another option for a coffee break or a snack.
The village of Gerolimenas is around 40 minutes driving time from the hotel but you definitely need to go. Why? Because it is very very beautiful and has a great beach too.
Perfectly situated in a small gulf, you can either climb to the top of the hill or just stay in the village and enjoy some quite time.
That was one great place to sit and enjoy some local juice mix and a coffee.
That is a very small village famous from this beach, that is called Aloipa. Ιt was March when we went there so it was a bit stormy.
Our weekend and staying at “Petra & Fos” boutique hotel was a relaxing one since we much needed that. It was one of those times where you just need to let go and relax, doing “soft” activities and sightseeing, while enjoying great food.
Along with Maria, we agreed that we were spot on with this hotel as we returned refreshed and ready for our trip to Santorini and Lesvos (posts coming soon).
We totally suggest “Petra & Fos” boutique hotel. An additional reason is the authentic experience we had, same with what was offered to all guests and we received no special program or dining menu.
This is something we totally appreciate when we are invited to stay in a hotel, as in that way we can carry real and authentic experiences to our readers.
